説明 | Continuing my occasional series of 'Teach Yourself Runes' here is Wynn, Is and Ing. The pointy P is called Wynn in Old English and translates as Joy. It has the Latin value of W. Is, means Ice and has the Latin value I. The diamond shape is Ing, shown in its Scandinavian form. Its name translates as 'the Hero Ing' and is believed to refer to an old fertility god; it has the Latin value of NG. So this series of Runes translates as WING, but if you prefer to use the meaning of their names it says "Joyful Ice God" - and he was certainly having fun last night! |
