| 説明 | The Ananuri fortress complex was once a sprawling network of castles, fortifications and churches, much of which is in shambles now. The beautiful fairy tale setting and the part of the complex we have been seeing so are are only part of the Upper fortress, with three of its five towers, including the largest Sheupovari Tower, facing the Georgian Military Highway. The entrance to the lower comples is to the right, from the middle of the southern wall, which is assume is behind the gates you see at the far end, and which were firmly locked shut.
