(April 8, 2006)- The guided-missile submarine USS Florida (SSGN 728) departs Norfolk Naval Shipyard April 8, 2006, passes Nauticus, the National Maritime Center and transits through downtown Norfolk toward her new homeport of Naval Submarine Base King's Bay, Ga. Florida entered Norfolk Naval Shipyard in July 2003 to undergo a refueling and conversion from a ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) to the new class of guided missile submarines (SSGN).
