説明 | Ujigami Shrine is dedicated to Prince Uji-No-Waki-Iratsuko, and Emperors Ojin and Nintoku (5th century A.D.). According to Nihon-Shoki, Uji-No-Waki-Iratsuko was a tragic Imperial prince, who, as the Prince of Ojin Emperor, was driven to commit suicide due to the conflict with his brother Emperor Nin-Toku over the succession to the Imperial Throne. The main shrine (a World Heritage National Treasure) is valued as the oldest shrine in Japan, built in the Heian Period. |
