説明 | The four-tower WMEX/1510am transmitter site in a parking lot off Waverly Oaks Road in Belmont, Massachusetts, beside Beaver Brook. WMEX are the first and possibly final call letters of the station, which I shot here when it was WWZN, in 2008. After that it was WUFC, then WMEX again in 2014.This is a legacy rig: four 199° 360-foot towers, putting out 50,000 watts full time. It is also now gone, dismantled in May, 2018, after its lease ran out. (I lived near there for years. It was a helluva signal, in spite of awful ground conductivity.)According to its Wikipedia article, the station had been simulcasting WATD/95.9fm, a mostly-oldies station in Marshfield, which is on the South Shore, souteast of Boston. The new owner, which bought the license, and has applied for a 10kw-Day, 100-w Night license to co-locate with WBIX/1260 in Quincy. |
