| 説明 | The past two months of my life were entirely dominated by my boyfriend's mother Hanneke. In September she was still a very vital woman. And now she has been taken into a psychiatric nursing home for the elderly people. An unknown burglar has litterally smashed her into a crazy person's hospital. Her legs have been tied up together with tie wraps and she has been laying unconsciously on the floor for days. In the meantime we tried to call her on the phone all the time, but nobody picked up the phone so we got worried. We asked the neighbour to take a look, and she immediately contacted the police. The police found her house full of shards and blood. Complete fur and blue beaten, with boken bones in her face and a damaged eye, she has been removed to the hospital. Fortunately she has survived it, but she lost all her intelligence and memory. Jeroen and I visit her every day, firstly in the Flevo hospital in Almere, now in the psychiatrical institute Parnassia in The Hague. It is strange to see the photos that I made one and a half months ago, when she was stil looking so good. When we came back from our holiday in Denmark she expressed her wish to go on holidays as well. Eva and I decided to take her for a weekend away to the Ardennen. With the car, the dog in the back of the car, we drove to "Domaine du Chien". A small dog-friendly pension that is managed by Li, a smooth independent woman from Rotterdam. She cooked a delicious vegetarian meal for us. In the meantime the dogs of all guests played with each other in the garden. Hanneke enjoyed all dogs, the open air and sociability. Also in Dinant she had a great time. We slept in Ibis hotel with view on the river Meuse. Eva and I climbed the citadel whereas Hanneke was having a drink on a terrace. When we returned she had disappeared without trace. We were worried that she might be walking somewhere in the city, but we found her back in the hotel chamber. When we walked along the Lesse the next day, she entirely looked 30 years youngler. She climbed over escarpments and stairways, over slippery paths. In Stavelot she had memories of earlier trips with her husband. It is shocking to see how she has changed from a strong woman in a schim of whom she was. |
