Bonhomme Richard, flagship of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Philippine Sea as part of Exercise Valiant Shield 2016 (VS16). VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise with a focus on integration of joint training to enable real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking, and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace.
