説明 | View from the Pilots' Rock, above the village of North Kessock. The Kessock Road Bridge opened in 1982 to replace the centuries-old ferry service between North and South Kessock - i.e. across the narrows of the Beauly Firth (a.k.a. Loch Beauly) arm of the North Sea between the Black Isle peninsula of Ross & Cromarty and the Town (now city) of Inverness. The new bridge was part of a new trunk road between Inverness and the North. Today (17th Sept) the North Kessock Local History Society held a fascinating exhibition on the history of the Kessock Ferry, and the village of North Kessock before the bridge - and I could not resist the temptation to attend. I also could not resist the temptation to take some photos from various locations, of the bridge - which is one of few modern structures which actually ENHANCES the view! |
