| 説明 | Fun for the whole family! Spend a day with an American mustang on #mypubliclandsroadtrip.Have a horse crazy kid? Want a chance to meet Amercan mustangs first hand, or an adorable wild burro? Over the past six months, the BLM’s Eastern States Office has hosted over 100 satellite/facility adoptions, four Extreme Mustang Makeover events with the Mustang Heritage Foundation, and multiple internet adoptions. These adoption events are free, open to the public, and a great experience for the whole family.The BLM Eastern States and Southeastern States District hosted a wild horse and burro adoption event this spring at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area in Virginia. Approximately 38 horses aged 1-6 years were available for adoption. BLM employees, volunteers, and visitors of all ages from throughout Maryland and Virginia attended the event. .Wild horse owners and trainers were also on hand with their own horses providing demonstrations, tips, and information to the public. BLM employees on horseback with some of their own wild horses showed just how intelligent and surefooted wild horses are.The adoption also featured activities for children including wild horse coloring pages, an illustrated map, and an online infographic showing how far each wild horse had traveled from its Herd Management Area to Virginia. Often times Eastern States adoption coincide with other family fun events such as the Mason Neck River Festival and America’s Heroes on public lands celebration BLM also partners with the Simple Changes Therapeutic Riding program in Lorton, Virginia to provide opportunities for families to engage with the horses.Whether you are an interested potential adopter or just looking for an outdoors family outing, these events are a wonderful way to spend time outdoors with America’s Living Legends. |
