説明GOVERNOR TOMBLIN PRESENTS STATE DEVELOPMENT GRANTS FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATIONMore than $420,000 in funding awarded to 19 entities across the state CHARLESTON, W.Va. (August 31, 2016) - Governor Earl Ray Tomblin today joined Division of Culture and History Commissioner Randall Reid-Smith on August 31, 2016, to present the 2017 State Development Grants. More than $420,000 was awarded for 19 historic preservation projects across the state. "With more than 1,000 historic properties in West Virginia, rehabilitation is an important source of both cultural and economic development," Gov. Tomblin said. "These grants allow communities to maintain their character, boost tourism and preserve our state's legacy. This funding will support continued efforts to strengthen and maintain West Virginia's heritage." The State Development Grant Program provides funds for properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places to finance repair, restoration and preservation. Contributing properties in historic districts and projects focusing on archaeological development of a nationally declared historic place are also eligible. Funding is appropriated by the W.Va. Legislature through Lottery Funds. The following grants were awarded: Berkeley CountyBerkeley County Council received $40,000 to assist with the roof replacement on the Crawford Building in Martinsburg. Cabell CountyMarshall Health received $50,000.00 to assist with the roof replacement on the Douglas Jr/Sr High School in Huntington. Gilmer CountyWest Virginia State Folk Festival, Inc. received $3,800.00 to assist with roof replacement on the Little Kanawha Valley Bank Building in Glenville. Grant CountyThe Grant County Commission received $6,000.00 to assist with the installation of new floor joists in the Old Grant County Courthouse in Petersburg. Greenbrier CountyMr. John Wooton received $40,250.00 to assist with roof replacement on McElhenney Lodge in Lewisburg. Jefferson CountyCurt Mason and Suzette Kimball received $3,619.00 to assist with chimney repairs on the White House Farm in Charles Town. Claymont Society for Continuous Education received $7,000.00 to assist with the repair of the columns on Claymont Court, Charles Town. Kanawha CountyMs. Brett Hamilton received $20,000.00 to assist with the repair of the roof, gutters and soffit on 1589 Lee Street in Charleston. The West Virginia Humanities Council received $8,651.00 to assist with repairs to the roof, gutters and windows on the MacFarland Hubbard House in Charleston. The Simpson United Methodist Church received $10,321.00 to assist with repairs to stained glass windows in the Simpson United Methodist Church in Charleston. Crawford Holdings LLC received $35,000.00 to assist with window repairs on the Staats Building in Charleston. Marion CountyFuzzy Mammoth Development LLC received $19,808.00 to assist with window repairs on the Spadafore Building in Fairmont. Ohio CountyCrest Investments, LLC received $8,915.00 to assist with the repair of the columns on the Elizabeth Apartments in Wheeling. The Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley received $69,500 to assist with roof replacement on the First Christian Church building in Wheeling. Monroe Street Revival LLC/Wheeling National Heritage Area received $12,750.00 to assist with roof replacement on The Blue Church in Wheeling. Pocahontas CountyThe Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Foundation received $10,400.00 to assist with window repairs on the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace in Hillsboro. Randolph CountyRandolph Scott Allan and Donna Ruth Allan received $4,600.00 to assist with roof replacements on the carriage house and well house of the Lemuel Chenoweth House in Beverly. Summers CountyMs. Wilma Angotti received $22,250.00 to assist with window repairs on the Big Four Drug Store Building in Hinton. Wetzel CountyThe City of New Martinsville received $47,300.00 to assist with roof replacement on the Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville. Photos available for media use.
