| 説明 | The distressingly poor yield from the first session of the Chinese fishing nets on the Cochin seafront. Visitors can buy the fish here and later have it cooked from a line of stalls lining the seafront road. Unfortunately, due to this poor yield, the fishermen, who have to earn their bread, charge astronomical prices for the fish caught. So apart from prices that are through the roof, you also have a very poor variety. I understand now why my guides were insisting on picking up the fish from a formal fish market across the bay. Only foreign tourists now seemed to buy from here, barring of course a fish auction that was held later with slightly larger fish. (Cochin/ Kochi, Kerala, India, Apr. 2016) |
