| 説明 | Loggerhead HatchlingsHurricane impacts on sea turtlesSea turtles have been around for over 100 million years and have evolved to withstand large storms and hurricanes. Research shows sea turtle hatchlings can handle big waves and sea turtles in the water can seek appropriate habitat to ride out a storm. While it’s natural to want to help these animals, the best action for sea turtles and the beach habitat is to leave hatchlings and eggs on the beach. Please don’t pick up hatchlings crawling towards the ocean or collect exposed sea turtle eggs. You can help by reporting dead, sick, or injured sea turtles as well as lethargic hatchlings or hatchlings crawling away from the ocean. Call us at 888-404-FWCC (3922) and we will respond as quickly as conditions allow. You can also help sea turtles by reducing lights on the beach at night including cell phones, flashlights and porch lights. FWC photo by Tonya Long |
