| 説明 | This healthy looking individual inhabited the small patch of farmland in front of our holiday villa, lording it over several scraggy put-upon hens in his avian harem. And as cockerels are prone to do, he crowed from morning until dusk. First crow at 0620, then roughly every twenty minutes until darkness. Each time, a full throated call. Actually, usually about 5 -7 full throated calls with about 10-15 seconds silence between.There was no provocation. He often got into a reciprocal crowing arrangement with 2 other nearby roosters.As we were just out of town, there was no background noise to distract. Perhaps the chirping of grasshoppers. The swish of trees in the coastal breeze.He irritated the bejesus out my darling spouse. She was on the point of doing something perhaps regrettable and had to be talked out of it. However, I was busy practicing mindfulness and tried to let the noise wash over me, surrendering myself to it, acknowledging the irritation and thereby gaining mastery over it. Didn't work very well. Still threw things at it to shut it up. Which didn't work either. |
