説明 | John M. Grunsfeld (left), payload commander, and Richard M. Linnehan, mission specialist, anchored to a restraint on Columbia's robotic arm, participate in the final of five STS-109 spacewalks in March 2002. The two went on to install an experimental cooling system for the Hubble Space Telescope’s Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS). This image was recorded with a digital still camera by a crewmate inside the shuttle's crew cabin. NICMOS had been dormant since January 1999 when its original coolant ran out.Credit: NASA |
