| 説明 | The reason I was in Austin was for a meeting with some collaborators at UT Austin who are part of a group effort to understand the evolution of flightless ratites (ostrich, emu, kiwi, cassowary, rhea, and the extinct moa and elephant bird) and in particular how they became flightless. I am part of the genomics side of this endeavour, and the UT Austin team is made up of paleontologists and morphologists. While we were in Austin we got a chance to see some material from their collection, including this very cool feather from an extinct moa. |
