The VTIN portable speaker was bought for situations where this is not possible - in the bathroom, for example."Pink" noise was played over the speakers, and various Apps on a budget Android smart phone (with concomitant cheap, small, microphone) were used to measure their frequency responses.Conditions were very basic - no anechoic chamber was used. Both speakers were placed close to a wall to enhance their bass reflex effects. The phone was held close to the speakers. No other account of the "sound field" (which affects how the speakers sound from a normal listening distance) was taken.Sound volume is perceived differently by humans at different frequencies and also depending on the type of sound, and the different Apps may have accounted for this differently. (I used the default settings for each App.)In general, the curves should be looked at comparatively, not in absolute terms.The Yamaha speaker enclosures are much bigger and had a more extended bass response compared to the VTIN Punker.
