| 説明 | The gloaming (Scottish for "dusk") is falling on a day which has been mainly rainy, but the evening is balmy calm and clear. The River Ness is remarkably low, but today's rain will be making its way down the rivers to Loch Ness from where it will swell the river tomorrow.The metal gates on the (shore) side are to close the gate - and thus the low-lying Ness Islands - when the river level rises sharply, to prevent folk crossing over and coming to grief!Being a suspension bridge, it is "springy" but only slightly so compared to my adolescence in the 1960's when it seemed like a trampoline!! |
