| 説明 | Compare this 2008 shot with the 1913 photo on page 28 of "Around Staple Hill". The leftmost of the three adjoining Dutch-gabled buildings has gone. The Midland Bank, which had taken over the corner site once occupied by Rogers' grocer, wanted to expand. So the leftmost gabled building and Rogers' shop were demolished and the curved structure was built. The Midland, of course, then became HSBC. On 5 February 2010 the branch was closed. |
