| 説明 | while the borough and Community Forestry Committee planted trees on the remainder of the unsightly bank behind the Schuylkill Haven Neighborhood Center. With pick and shovel, crown vetch, wild onions and other invasive weeds were removed. Landscaping made way for two retaining walls – one mid-way and one at the base. Garden club members initially volunteered to carry bricks and soon found all placing bricks on the 3 foot tapered walls. Mid-way support a path that will eventually be paved in brick placed in memory of friends and garden club members. Ames Tools through NGC arrived just in time for the addition of top soil, planting and mulch. Most of the plants were left from this year’s spring plant sale. Two trees, a flowering dogwood and a shaggy dog white pine joined the collection of primarily native plants. With fortune looking over our shoulder, the rainy spell started soon after planting to avoid the need of first year watering. With white and red petunia offered by the Schuylkill Haven borough, the more formally landscaped set off the whole bank. |
