| 説明 | Navy photos of the Invasion of Cape Gloucester, New Britain 1944. From the estate of a man who was a Navy Photographer. I did not attempt to put these photos in any order, they are in the same order as found. From the history of these LSTs on navsource.org, they made several trips to Cape Gloucester. There was no info on the port of origin before going to Cape Gloucester. The port that has a lot of buildings appears to be in New Zealand. Photos are 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch and probably taken by an official Navy Graflex camera in late 1943 and early 1944. Units involved in the invasion were: The 7th Marines, 1st Marines, 5th Marines, 11th Marines, 6th Army support personnel, US Coast Guard manned the LSTs and other small craft.
