| 説明 | Once a week, Phyllis and I go on an art expedition in the Bay Area. This week, we went to the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, to see ‘Painting Arcadia’, a fine exhibition of Pierre Bonnard’s work. The exhibit celebrates Bonnard as one of the defining figures of modernism, in the transitional period between impressionism and abstraction, at the turn of the 20th century. Several themes from Bonnard’s career emerge in his paintings, including windows linking interior and exterior spaces and intimate scenes disclosing unexpected phantasmagorical effects. It was an inspiring visit, and I enjoyed discovering this artist. Going on these art expeditions is one of our favorite activities now. We've made so many wonderful discoveries together, right here in our own backyard .
