| 説明 | We soon realised that the Jeep wasn't going to get the 4 of us and our luggage from New York to Denver, so we had to look for another means of transport. We looked at the train, and realised we couldn't afford it, so we looked at the bus, ditto. We looked into a drive-away, but there weren't any, and we'd left it far too late to start hitch-hiking. So, we found a 1976 Chrysler Cordoba for $100, changed the spark plugs and we were off!We broke down almost as soon as we had left NYC. For a start the petrol gauge didn't work and it didn't make the advertised 12mpg, so we ran out of petrol. When we got more petrol, all the electrics stopped working. We could still move, but it was a baking hot day and the car had electric windows, which were shut. We swapped every fuse in the car round, to no avail. In the end I removed the quarterlight with my trusty Swiss Army Knife and we took it in turns breathing. At some point later in the trip the electrics all started working again. |
