| 説明 | After leaving The Quarry (now called The Dingle), I headed back into Shrewsbury Town Centre.Princess StreetThe Grade II* listedOld Church of St Chad (Remains), Shrewsbury SHREWSBURY SJ4912SW BELMONT 653-1/15/125 (North West side) 10/01/53 Old Church of St Chad (remains) (Formerly Listed as: OLD ST CHAD'S CHURCHYARD Old Church of St Chad) GV II* Church, now ruinous and largely demolished. C12 with C15, C16 and C17 additions. Red sandstone, coursed and squared, with Welsh slate roof. South aisle chapel and fragments of former church, all that remained after church was damaged and largely demolished in 1788. Former arch to transept filled in and now forming west wall, containing a C17 doorway with deep moulded panels and dated 1663. North wall formerly south wall of chancel, has filled-in arch between triple clustered shafts, with simple Romanesque foliate capitals and sedilia with lierne vaulting. East and south walls of chapel late C16 alterations, white sandstone with 2 wide Perpendicular traceried windows in east, a single window in south.
