| 説明 | Winston says to me, at 8 pm on Saturday: "Dude let's go boating."I say, "Ok."He replies, "Seriously?"And so we went, Winston, Jess, Alan and myself. The inaugural fall launch of the Sailing Team's motorboat went smoothly. The newly retuned engine started on the first pull and proved just as powerful as I remembered it. We headed downriver until we reached Poughkeepsie's riverside park where there was some sort of reggae concert going on. After idling dockside for a couple of minutes I turned control over to Winston, who pointed us South and pinned the throttle. We traveled about a mile south of the Mid-Hudson bridge when the first of the fireworks went off. The boom echoed across the river and bounced between the cliffs on either side, reverberating like the voice of God, and surprising the crap out of the crew. We stopped and watched the show, reveling in the magical, endless echoes of each explosion and the beautiful reflections on the glassy river. |
