So a certain grandson expected - and got - his forest walk.On our way back from last weekends' walk at Rosemarkie we had seen that there were now forest walks, parking/picnic area etc near the Clootie Well at Munlochy, so that's where we headed. And a lovely afternoon ensued.A spring rises from the small hillock at the side of the road behind Munlochy, and since time immemorial local people have washed rags or pieces of clothing (cloots = cloths) in the reputedly Holy water and tied them to the treees growing around the well, so that as the rag disintegrates so will what ails the person.The Forestry Commission have recently "done up" the area and a set of steps and decent path have been installed, thus allowing those who come to place their "cloots" to ascend the hillock instead of havign to stand right beside the busy roadway.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clootie_wellwww.blackisle.org/clootiewell.htmMY PERFECT DAY: A very pleasant and memorable day |
