説明 | Tidal lock happens because the cg and cm are not at the same place on a huge object. The side closer to earth has stronger gravity from the earth, and this causes the cg to shift closer. But the cm is still the pivot point. This means that earth puts a torque on the moon, and pulls it into an orientation that the cg is directly in front of the cm. It retains this configuration as it orbits, keeping one side always facing us. |
