説明 | c/n 153.The first of the three replica WW1 fighters constructed for the Shuttleworth Collection by the Northern Aeroplane Workshops, the Triplane is so accurate that the late Tommy Sopwith himself stated that it was a ‘late production’ aeroplane rather than a replica. It was consequently given c/n 153, following on from the original production batch of 152.After years as a popular performer, the Triplane suffered a landing accident on 29th June 2014. The damaged machine was stripped, rebuilt and has recently been re-assembled, now standing complete except for her engine. She should be flying again in 2016.Seen on display in the main hangars during the Engineering Open Weekend.Old Warden, Bedfordshire, UK.02-01-2016 |
