‘Wall-breaking’ staged for USARAF headquarters project / USACE Europe District

| 説明 | Leaders and stakeholders from partner agencies take part in a “wall-breaking” ceremony Dec. 9 for the future U.S. Army Africa headquarters at Caserma Del Din in Vicenza, Italy. The event marks the beginning of a two-year, $13 million renovation project under the management of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District. Tim Wood, the district’s Mediterranean Resident Office engineer, presented a traditional groundbreaking plaque to Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams, USARAF commanding general. Overall, three buildings will be overhauled. In addition to the new headquarters, Buildings 93 and 94 are set to house the majority of USARAF’s Sustainment Directorate, as well as multiple elements of special staff, including the chaplain, surgeon, Public Affairs and engineers. Once finished, USARAF will be able to operate from a single location for the first time since its establishment. The complex is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2018.
