説明 | HIMEJI, Japan - More than 50 U.S. Army Soldiers and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force service members participating in Yamura Sakura 69 temporarily stepped away from multinational humanitarian exercise to help preserve the historic flora, monuments and other landmarks encompassing Himeji Castle Dec. 3, 2015, in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. The troops embarked on a guided tour of the castle grounds, posed for photos with re-enactors wearing authentic samurai armor and shared an authentic Japanese meal with local residents. MInutes after setting down their utensils and shopping bags, the service members picked up rakes and brooms to help beautify several gardens surrounding the castle grounds. The Pacific partners returned to Camp Itami with a greater appreciation of Japan's rich culture and proud heritage while giving a small token of their friendship to Himeji's historic community.
