| 説明 | (geology hammer for scale)The Boggs Member is a relatively thin stratigraphic interval in the Pennsylvanian of eastern Ohio, USA. It typically consists of marine fossiliferous limestones, dominated by brachiopods and crinoid ossicles. Significant lateral lithologic variation is present - Boggs lithologies range from fossiliferous limestone to intraclastic limestone to ferruginous chert to "flint" to dolostone. In places, it has a relatively high component of disseminated pyrite. In other places, it is relatively rich in black manganese oxide(s).Minerals observed in the Boggs Limestone interval: calcite, dolomite, glauconite, goethite, gypsum, limonite, pyrite, sphalerite, turgite, vivianite, wad.The outcrop shown above is an erosion-resistant bed of Boggs Limestone in Blunt Run. This is the type locality of the "Blunt Run Limestone", which has been proposed as a replacement name for the Boggs Limestone. The replacement name was suggested based on the potential mis-correlation between the Boggs Member type locality in southern Ohio and other Boggs localities in eastern Ohio.
