| 説明 | Again, many thanks to the organisers [especially Eleanor McGrath] for inviting me to the Web Summit at the RDS this year.42,000 people from 134 countries came to Dublin this week for Web Summit and i was one of them.Next year the Summit moves to Lisbon and I am not sure that it will be practical for me to attend. Starting in January my main focus will be street photography and if I went to Lisbon I would much prefer to spend my time photographing the city streets rather than devoting time to a technical showcase. I suppose I could go for an extended period but I suspect that the hotel rooms will be expensive because of the demand generated by the summit. My honest opinion is that the 2014 summit was better and it had a buzz that was lacking this week. Last year I had reached reached the conclusion that the event may need to move out of Dublin in order to survive in the longterm so I was not surprised when it was announced that this year’s event was the last to be held at the RDS [it may return, but I doubt it]. If you have a media badge on the last day of the Web Summit things are usually a bit weird mainly because the badge attracts the attention of some who are getting a bit desperate as they are beginning to realise that they have failed to convince enough people that their product or service has merit. This year I thought that many of the offerings did not even reach the level of a final year college project and unfortunately I had to be polite and pretend to be interested. Over the three days I did get to meet many really interesting people and for me my five year relationship with the event was a good one. |
