| 説明 | The conflict in Syria continues to claim staggering numbers of lives, with attacks against civilians having intensified in recent weeks. On Sept 21, Syrian opposition leaders and human rights activists participated in a special panel during the 30th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council to highlight the importance of accountability and redress for victims of the conflict. The event was organized by No Peace Without Justice and the Nonviolent Radical Party, Transnational and Transparty (NRPTT), together with the Euro-Syrian Democratic Forum. The U.S. Mission was among the cosponsors who also included Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Turkey, USA and the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces.The discussion was co-Chaired by Niccolò Figà-Talamanca, Secretary General No Peace Without Justice and Hussein Sabbagh, Secretary General of Euro-Syrian Democratic Forum. Participants included Hisham Marwah, Vice President of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces, Samir Altaqi, Orient Research Centre, Mohammed Nehad Nader, Brigadier-General (rtd.) of the Syrian Army, Raheb Alwany, Human Rights Defender, Stephen Rapp, former Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, former US Ambassador on War Crimes Issues.U.S. Mission Photo/Eric Bridiers |
