| 説明 | Each year, local watershed group Haywood Waterways organizes a Kids in the Creek event for eight-grade students in North Carolina’s Haywood County. The students come out to the Pigeon River and rotate through a series of stations that let them explore the river and water issues associated with the river. The Service has long been a partner in this effort, helping students learn about aquatic macroinvertebreates as the Pigeon River is home to the endangered Appalachian elktoe mussel.
