Designed by Adrian Smith of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 2009, the structure is one of the tallest in the United States, reaching a staggering 1,388 feet. Its reinforced concrete frame supports a gleaming, reflective glass curtain wall that wraps the building in a tight, repeating grid. The tower rises in three distinct, stepped tiers, each one curving slightly as it ascends toward the crown, which is topped with a sleek, cylindrical drum and a slender, pointed spire. The black-and-white treatment strips away the distraction of color, turning the building into a pure study of line, reflection, and vertical ambition. |
