| 説明 | Its a quite typical late-Victorian edifice marking the beginning of a remarkable engineering feat - the construction of an electric tramway to run south for several miles to Sodrick Bay. The enterprise flourished from the late nineteenth century till its closure during the first world war. It reopened after the war ended but trade fell-off and its operations finally ceased around the time of the second world war. Interestingly one of the six passenger rail-cars has been preserved and can be seen in the National Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire. Crich is a wonderful place, I was lucky enough to live there for a dozen years or so - and miss it still... |
