| 説明 | SSGN 587 Halibut made a shakedown cruise from Mare Island Navy Shipyard (northeast edge of San Francisco bay) to Sydney, Australia, in 1960. Here we see a test bird on display, on the launcher. The US Navy had a simple but effective way to keep track of test versus 'real' missiles - the test units were painted red and contained no warhead. Blue missiles were armed.This is a derivative work, I rolled the larger image (where the sub is level and the missile at an angle) until the missile's Star and Bar national insigna was level, then trimmed out everything else. I claim no copyright, but I believe its a fair use of what was probably a US Navy photo, and a bit of help, perhaps to model builders, which is my main point. I wanted to know. what it would look like leveled, and might want to play with the bits too. Note that the fuselage isn't straight compared to the bars and neither is the lanucher... |
