説明 | For many years this was the transmitter for WJJD/1160am in Chicago. The station operated as a daytimer, going silent after sunset in Salt Lake City, when KSL, a "clear channel" station, had 1160 for itself across the whole country. I used to listen in New Jersey for KSL to come through when WJJD went silent. Now WJJD is WYLL, and this is the daytime transmitter. The nighttime transmitter is down in Aurora, and aims straight north, still protecting KSL, which is no longer "clear". Nor is anything on the AM band at night, for that matter. Added in August, 2024: Audacy has applied to move WSCR/670 and WBBM/780 to idle towers at this site. These towers are much shorter than the one used for both those stations, which stands on land Audacy is selling off. The signals for both stations will be diminished even though the power will be the same for WSCR (50kW) and slightly up for WBBM (but not equal to the 50kW it had before moving to co-site with WSCR). |
