説明I was sorting through my gear and trying to get everything packed until 2:00am and then got back up at 4:45 am to drive back to base and go through theTear Gas chamber. They had us wear the gas mask into the chamber and wear itfor a few minutes and prove that we could breath the gas with it on. Afterthat we where instructed to touch the inside of our lenses with our fingersand hold it there letting gas in until the Marine came around and made sureeveryone was doing it. We then had to clear the gas out of our mask bypressing a button in and blowing out as hard as possible. At this pointeveryone got a pretty good dose of Tear (CS) gas and your nose should berunning like crazy, eyes water, skin burning, and lungs and throat on fire.We start doing jumping jacks (about 40) and then run in place for a coupleof minutes, stop and he instructs us to take a deep breath and take the maskoff all together. About the time everyone was running out of breath and gota good dose of gas he instructed us to put it back on and clear it again. After that we waked in a circle around the gas chamber to prove that ourmask was clear and then we could exit the chamber. At this point the CS gasis embedded in everyone's cammies so once we got back on the 7-ton trucks(www.usmc.mil/13thMEU/marines/photos/RecentJune/7ton_hi.jpg ) in thecovered rear area we all start smelling the gas off each other's cammies andit gets worse. Anyway, that was early this morning and it's not just aftermidnight and it's still burning my eyes and skin a little bit. I'm afraid totake a shower because usually water just reactivates the stuff. Ughhh..Guess I'll suck it up and start trying to wash the stuff off. Believe it ornot they where pretty easy on us compared to when I was in the Marine Corps, they'd make us take the gas mask off and sing the Marine Corps Hymn to makesure you took some good deep breaths!!!!So I packed my stuff up and drove the 8 hours back to Washington DC. I'mrelaxing in a Hilton tonight and still organizing/packing up gear. Tomorrowmorning I hope to finish grabbing a few items that I still need down inQuantico, VA (Headquarters Marine Corps) and then go check out the newMarine Corps Museum that was built last year. I'm supposed to meet myproject manager for dinner and then head to the airport for a flight toKuwait that leaves at 9:50 PM and arrives in Kuwait 12 hours later. When weget to Kuwait we're supposed to call for a military shuttle bus to take usto the military base (also in Kuwait) and wait there for who knows how longfor a military hop to wherever we're going. I think I'm going to be on CampFallujah for at least a couple of weeks before being sent out to one of theFOB's (Forward Operating Bases). This will probably be the last email for awhile and when I do get an internet connection again I'll send out anupdate.Attached is a picture of me in uniform, flak jacket and Kevlar helmet readyto go to the gas chamber. LOL..Jeremy
