| 説明 | Two-topped Mount Asgard is mid-right in this shot of Baffin Island's Cumberland Peninsula. Named after the realm of Norse gods, from below it looks the part. This is in one of the most spectacular, remote and barely-accessible places in the northern hemisphere. And amazing to see from above halfway between London and Denver. Since it's just north of the Arctic Circle, the Sun won't see it at the Winter Solstice, one month past the day I shot this. By the way, one of the great James Bond ski chase stunts in history was shot here, incredibly. See this video, explaining it. Start at about 1:33. By the way, I saw exactly this same scene seven years later, and shot it again, this time equipped with a GPS and the plane's map display, so I knew this scene was in Baffin Island and not Greenland. |
