| 説明 | After the sun goes down, the great horned owls come out and sometimes fly to the tops of dead trees where they have an unobstructed view. This is one of the young owls from the nest in the heron rookery at Metzger Farm Open Space in Westminster and Broomfield, Colorado. The three young owls flew to one tree for a while and then two flew off together. Great horned owls generally fly relatively low to the ground. In the early evening, the young owls often make a shrieking noise begging for food. The owls are usually hidden during the daytime. The owls can usually be found after sunset by looking for them flying or in the tops of dead trees, or by listening for the shrieking. A pair of adult great horned owls stay in one territory for years. Their young stay in the territory through the summer and leave in the fall. The parents continue to feed the young during July and into August while the young learn to hunt.
