説明 | I think these may be Common Darters (Sympetrum striolatum), with the female on the left and the male on the right.At St Ippolyts, Hertfordshire, there is a bridge over Ippillitts Brook and the brook is dammed so it becomes a pond. On 12 September 2014, I found hundreds of dragonflies in pairs, flying over the pond and, I presume, depositing eggs (ovipositing). Then there were these two on a fence, just posing like this. It was one of the most impressive wildlife spectacles I have seen.4To see my collections, go here. |
