| 説明 | looking from the iwan into the main domed space. 17th century persian architecture at its finest. the basic geometry is identical to the 600 years older seljuk dome of the friday mosque shown here: flickr.com/photos/seier/1728387096/ - and yet the two spaces seem worlds apart. it's the tiles, of course, covering every surface of the building. light is reflected in ever-changing patterns off the carefully facetted surfaces as you move through the building - you may notice the peacock tail of light emanating from the centre of the dome in this photograph. |
