説明 | The small town of Cavendish was established around 1849 astride the Wannon River which links today’s places of historical interest. It is surrounded by some historic, wealth producing and well-watered properties. The town’s modern claim to fame is that the local cafe makes the biggest hamburgers in Australia! Buildings on the Victorian heritage list include St. John’s Lutheran church, St. Marks Anglican church, the Presbyterian Church manse in Bunbury Street and the old timber cottage at number 13. In Scott Street heritage buildings are the old Methodist Church, the Bunyip Hotel (1842), the old General Store (1868) and the old Cobb and Co depot & stables at number 6 Scott Street. The National School in Cavendish opened in 1852 and is still the current town school. |
