| 説明 | Uproar in Crickhowell due to plans to flog off a pub and turn it into a mini-supermarket. The village is proud of the fact that the only chain shop in the place, is a branch of Boots.Apropos to nothing, the day after taking this was a Bank Holiday Monday. We needed some bananas and some bread. Especially the latter as we'd run out. Could we find anywhere in Crickhowell to sell these simple staples? Well we just about managed bread - just - but fruit? No chance... Only one shop selling a highly limited amount of food was open (ironically with the word "Convenience" on its sign). Everywhere else was shut. Indeed there were quite a few people milling around the high street, and nowhere for them to go. Crickhowell, whilst I want your high street to remain mostly chain free, and I certainly don't want to see yet another pub die, it's worth thinking about what your customers may want. |
