説明 | Perseus rescues Andromeda from the sea monster (depicted here as a dragon) by using Medusa's head to turn it to stone. In this version the dragon's wing conveniently shields Andromeda from the petrification effect. If you've seen Clash of the Titans (the original, not the boring remake) you'll know the story, more or less. The Tate often shuffles its artworks around, but this one's a bit too big and heavy to move very often. It's on a balcony outside the Millbank entrance and there are lots of viewing angles from the street and the cafe courtyard as well as the balcony itself, and through one of the windows near the exit.So anyway, I've taken a lot of photos of this statue. Here's one batch, and in all probability I will be posting more in the not too distant future. |
