| 説明 | After a late and slightly chaotic start to our day, not something to be relished as you stand around cold and wet waiting for the guy who will be handing over the beer to get out of bed. Anyway Ian and I left Helmsley about 45 minutes late and pedaled off as fast as we could into the rain and long uphill drag to the summit of Newgate Bank. Mercifully the conditions improved with time and distance and after 13 miles we called in at the Buck Inn in Chop Gate for a cup of warming coffee with the ever welcoming host Wolfgang. After our next pin-collection at the Wainstones Brewery in Broughton-in-Furness it was a pretty rapid downhill run to base camp and here I am - proof at last that virtue brings its own reward. No figures yet on the amount raised for the Northern Air Ambulance but it will be significant and I'll come back with the details asap, in the meantime there is much work to be done. |
