| 説明 | Balsamorhiza careyana growing on flat topography in open dry Wyoming big sagebrush steppe. The sandy soils in the area harbor low densities of cheatgrass, in contrast to surrounding areas of different substrates where cheatgrass abundance can be high. Balsamorhiza careyana is similar to Balsamorhiza sagittata except for perhaps its predilection to open arid Wyoming big sagebrush steppe and its markedly less hairy leaves, stems, and involucre, which is counterintuitive with respect to growing in more arid settings. This site lies along the Hanford Reach of the Columbia River, just south of state route 24, Grant County, Washington. |
