| 説明 | The 2nd Annual Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. (PHWFF) Quantico and Ft Belvoir Programs Fly Tying Marathon was held Sat., March 21, at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Triangle, Va. The event drew 62 participants, more than 15 of which were PHWFF wounded/disabled program participants. During eight hours of tying, 1,445 flies were created for donation. An additional 1,662 flies have been donated via mail by those that wanted to help, but were not able to attend. In total, 4,107 flies were made to support PHWFF programs across the nation to support our Warriors. During our inaugural event in 2014, a total of 941 flies were donated to PHWFF Warriors. This year’s event showed a more than a 400% increase from last year! There were many return tyers who participated in last year’s inaugural event. Supporters came from as far away as North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The diversity of participants included Program Volunteer Guides, Professional Fly Fishing Guides and several tyers who heard about the event through a local fly tying blog, the National Museum of the Marine Corps Newsletter and the PHWFF Quantico Facebook page. Our father-daughter tying team returned, and their involvement last year inspired several other father-children teams to attend. The PHWFF Quantico and PHWFF Fort Belvoir partnership with the National Museum of the Marine Corps will continue, and the date for the 3d Annual Fly Tying Marathon will be chosen soon.(photos by Lally Laksbergs) |
