説明 | CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y- On Saturday, March 14, at New York State’s Division of Military and Naval Affairs Camp Smith Training Site, the New York Medal of Valor the state's highest military award was presented to New York Guard Colonel Martin Ingram by Brigadier General Stephen Bucaria, New York Guard Commander. Colonel Ingram was recognized for his heroism while serving as fire chief of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department on Oct. 29, 2012 as Hurricane Sandy flooded the ocean front community, and fire destroyed many of the areas structures. Prior to being presented the New York Medal of Valor, Colonel Ingram was promoted from Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel by BG Bucaria, at the New York Guard’s annual Commander’s Conference. The New York Guard is a volunteer state defense force whose members augment the actions of the New York National Guard during state missions and state emergencies. The New York State Medal of Valor can be awarded to any member of the New York State Organized Militia, (which is composed of the New York Army and Air National Guard, the New York Naval Militia, and the New York Guard) and who has displayed a conspicuous act of valor, heroism, courage or gallantry either in a military or civilian capacity.- Photos by CPT Mark Getman, New York Guard |
