説明 | Native, warm-season, perennial, slender, erect, grass-like herb; 10-60 cm tall and with thick, fleshy roots. Leaves are mostly basal, linear and hairy. Flowerheads are loose panicles. Flowers have 3 pink to mauve tepals (about 10 mm long), with 3 yellow, 3-lobed, sterile stamens and 3 dark fertile stamens. Flowering is in summer and autumn. Found in grasslands, woodlands and forests, especially in moister sites and during wetter summers. Native biodiversity. Of little importance to livestock grazing as it occurs in low abundance and produces very little bulk or leaf. Tuberous roots were eaten by aborigines. Most common in ungrazed, or light to intermittently grazed, native and natural pastures; it declines in abundance as grazing pressure/frequency increases. |
